Google rejected WinZO because of its other gaming offerings, which included puzzles, vehicle racing, and Indian carrom, even though it permits real-money games like rummy and fantasy sports. According to WinZO, this approach unjustly gave preference to some app categories while excluding others.<\/p>\n<p>A letter from the CCI highlighted the issue, stating, <em>\u201cBy granting preferential treatment to select app categories, Google effectively creates a two-tier market where some developers are accorded superior access and visibility while others are discriminated against and thus, left with a competitive disadvantage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s selective acceptance of real-money games has created controversy in India\u2019s booming online gaming market. Developers argue that the tech giant\u2019s policies stifle innovation by limiting the visibility of diverse gaming apps. This exclusion can significantly hinder revenue generation and user acquisition for impacted companies.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s online gaming sector is expanding rapidly, with various platforms offering skill-based and casual games.
