This change would significantly impact individuals charged with \u201cpossession of electronic gambling machines and other offenses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the proposed bill outlines increased fines, raising the maximum penalty from $6,000 to $15,000. For repeat offenders, the consequences could escalate further. A second offense could result in a Class B felony, which may carry prison sentences ranging from two to 20 years, alongside a hefty $30,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>Hammett believes that the current penalties fail to deter illegal gambling and only encourage repeat offenses.
