The government\u2019s Gambling Division and a Gibraltar-based gambling operator have agreed a \u00a325,000 ($33,000) settlement, demonstrating the territory\u2019s advancement in regulatory compliance. This agreement, which comes after Gibraltar\u2019s recent removal from the FATF greylist earlier this year, demonstrates the island nation\u2019s dedication to preserving a thriving gaming industry.<\/p>\n

Settlement Details and Operator\u2019s Cooperation<\/h2>\n

The financial penalty came after an enforcement case revealed licensing deficiencies related to two customer accounts from outside the UK. The Gambling Division\u2019s review indicated that these shortcomings did not point to systemic problems, which is why only a monetary fine was imposed.<\/p>\n

According to the Gambling Division, the case provided a crucial learning opportunity for Gibraltar\u2019s gambling industry. It demonstrated that even minor discrepancies in handling customer data can lead to significant consequences. The investigation focused on discrepancies between the operator\u2019s data and information provided by the customers regarding income and tax details. Although there was no evidence of tax evasion by the customers, the regulator stressed that the operator should have addressed these discrepancies promptly.<\/p>\n

The Gambling Division acknowledged the operator\u2019s full cooperation throughout the investigation and confirmed that the operator remains suitable to hold a Gibraltar gambling license.<\/p>\n
