According to a recent report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), gaming income in July was a whopping $500.8 million, up 7.22% from the same time last year and continuing its fantastic run from the last month<\/a>. The sum comprises profits from retail casinos, fantasy sports, iGaming, and other gaming activities.<\/p>\n

With $79.5 million in revenue, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was the best performer. Bally\u2019s Pennsylvania experienced the most noteworthy gain, with a startling 141.31% increase to $3.48 million, despite its stellar numbers. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, on the other hand, saw a decline of 8.82% and brought in $28.7 million. This decline occurred in July, the same month that its $6.6 million refurbishment project was finished.<\/p>\n

iGaming Slots Shine, While Retail Slots See Decline<\/h2>\n

Retail slots continued to dominate in revenue, contributing $204.3 million, but this was a 4.83% drop from last year. Of the 17 venues offering retail slots, only five reported revenue growth compared to July 2023, with Harrah\u2019s Philadelphia seeing a 10.48% decrease. On the other hand, iGaming slot revenue surged by 32.24% to $125.4 million, making it the second-largest revenue generator. Other game types that saw growth included iGaming tables (31.74%), sports wagering (20.18%), fantasy contests (9.01%), and video gaming terminals (4.33%).<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania\u2019s gaming landscape reflects a broader trend observed in neighboring states like New Jersey and Mississippi, where land-based casinos struggle while iGaming and sports betting gain traction.<\/p>\n
