Deloitte\u2019s recent report, \u201cEconomic Contributions of Ontario\u2019s Regulated iGaming Market \u2013 Year 2,\u201d reveals the significant economic impact of the iGaming sector in Ontario. The market has sustained nearly 15,000 jobs and contributed a total of $1.24 billion to federal, provincial, and municipal government revenues.<\/p>\n

Martha Otton, Executive Director of iGaming Ontario<\/a>, emphasized the market\u2019s role in job creation and economic development. \u201cThrough the development and growth of Ontario\u2019s regulated iGaming market, we\u2019re helping achieve the government\u2019s goals in terms of job creation, innovation, and development, while providing a safer experience for consumers,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n

Attorney General Doug Downey celebrated the market\u2019s success, highlighting its international recognition. \u201cOur made-in-Ontario iGaming sector is being recognized internationally for its success as a leader in this space. Working together with our partners and industry, we will continue to drive innovation and deliver robust player protections, all while displacing the unregulated market.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Government Revenue Contributions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This marks the second consecutive year that Ontario\u2019s iGaming market has exceeded $1.24 billion in government revenue. The breakdown of this year\u2019s contributions includes $790 million for provincial government revenue, $75 million for municipal government revenue, and $380 million for federal government revenue.<\/p>\n

Heidi Reinhart, Chair of the iGaming Ontario Board, discussed the broader implications of the report. \u201cThis report puts Ontario\u2019s iGaming market government revenue contribution at over $2 billion since it launched, and with job contribution up by 24% from its first year, the benefits to Ontarians are significant,\u201d<\/em> she noted.<\/p>\n
