In May, the administrative court in Link\u00f6ping overturned a cease order issued by Spelinspektionen against Zimpler. The decision, however, is now under appeal to the Court of Appeal in J\u00f6nk\u00f6ping.<\/p>\n<p>Spelinspektionen released a statement reaffirming its commitment to continue the legal battle. <em>\u201cThe Gaming Authority does not share the administrative court\u2019s assessment and is therefore appealing the verdict to the Court of Appeal in J\u00f6nk\u00f6ping,\u201d<\/em> stated the regulator.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Disagreement Over Legal Grounds<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The gambling watchdog disagreed with the court\u2019s conclusion that it \u201clacked grounds for issuing the injunction\u201d against Zimpler. Although the court recognized that Zimpler provided services to unlicensed operators, it noted that this did not necessarily mean those operators targeted Swedish customers.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to the court\u2019s findings, Spelinspektionen argued, <em>\u201cBy providing its payment service, Zimpler AB has promoted illegal gambling.\u201d<\/em> The regulator asserted that Zimpler\u2019s role as an intermediary payment service provider facilitated illegal gambling activities in Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>Coinciding with the announcement of the appeal, Spelinspektionen introduced a new digital assistant on its website.
