With a drop in the nation\u2019s channelization rate, the Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA) has voiced its dismay about Dutch players\u2019 growing preference for illicit casinos. Although 93% of the market was held by legal operators in July 2023, by December of the same year, this percentage had fallen to 90%.<\/p>\n

Slowdown in Market Growth<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This worrying tendency was brought to light in the most recent report from the Kansspelautoriteit, coupled with an increase in the yearly gross gaming income to $1.51 billion. Even with the increase in sales, the market\u2019s overall growth appeared to be slowing down in comparison to prior years.<\/p>\n

Peter-Paul de Goeij, director of NOGA, expressed his concerns about these changes, pointing to the slow growth of the Dutch iGaming<\/a> industry in comparison to other European countries as well as the declining channelization rates.<\/p>\n

De Goeij drew attention to the detrimental effects on market expansion of stricter advertising laws and more robust player protection protocols. He made the argument that these precautions would unintentionally push gamers to offshore gaming sites that lack national regulation and consumer protections.<\/p>\n

He underlined the necessity of well-balanced laws that promote a secure but alluring online gaming environment. Authorities were asked by NOGA to put an emphasis on stopping illicit operators and protecting Dutch players from any potential harm that may arise from using unauthorized gaming websites.<\/p>\n
