By imposing stronger controls on social media sites, the UK\u2019s Department of Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) has made substantial progress toward ensuring a safer online environment for kids. These precautions are intended to stop minors from viewing age-restricted adverts, such as those for gambling. Platforms will now be legally compelled to set up proportionate methods and procedures to safeguard kids from potentially dangerous content, according to DCMS.<\/p>\n

BGC Welcomes the New Rules and Advocates for Industry Standards<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The new regulations proposed by the UK government have received enthusiastic support from the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC). The BGC\u2019s Chief Executive, Michael Dugher, cited the industry\u2019s acknowledgment of the need for reform in expressing the council\u2019s support for the legislation. He added that BGC members have already gone above and above to make sure that their advertisements are seen by the right people and adhere to tight age regulations. The BGC also established a rule of conduct that forbids the promotion of gambling on the social media pages of football clubs.<\/p>\n
