According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the guard was trying to thwart a robbery attempt at the Texas Card House when he got caught in a crossfire.<\/p>\n<p>It was a little past 6 a.m. when deputies were called to the poker room located on the 1400 block of Spring Cypress Road. Tragically, the guard was caught in the firing line. The attackers managed to evade capture, fleeing the scene before Harris County Sheriff\u2019s Office (HCSO) deputies could arrive. Thankfully, no customers were injured during the encounter.<\/p>\n<p>An eyewitness, a card dealer who goes by the name Andrew, recounted his experience. He requested his identity be concealed. Andrew had just entered the Texas Card Club when the gunfire started. He stated, \u201cI walk back in, 40 seconds later, pop, pop, pop. All I saw was bullets coming through the window.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HCSO deputies disclosed that the security officer, referred to as Officer Jackson, was involved in a gunfight with four men attempting to rob the poker room. He fired his weapon as they fired upon him and he was hit seven times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the gunmen fled, a wounded Officer Jackson managed to stumble back inside and assured everyone that the danger had passed. Onlookers immediately rushed to aid him. The robbers had left a firearm at the scene while making their escape.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Jackson survived his injuries and is currently recuperating in a hospital. Wilson mentioned, \u201cI\u2019ve been with him all morning. He has good spirits. All of the bullets exited his body except one and we\u2019re waiting to see now if he has to have foot surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrew gave a heartfelt tribute to Officer Jackson, attributing the safe outcome for all customers to his brave actions. \u201cThere are no words.
