Quick Boys had no involvement and is a victim of identity fraud.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Good to Know<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The fraudster used the KSA licence to sell lottery tickets through several websites.<\/li>\n<li>The KSA has tightened identity and domain checks after discovering the fraud.<\/li>\n<li>Dutch lottery organisers need a KSA licence when total prize value reaches \u20ac4,500 or more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>KSA Tightens Lottery Licence Checks<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The case exposed a weakness in a process consumers normally rely on to verify whether a lottery is legitimate.<\/p>\n<p>An unidentified person successfully posed as the Quick Boys chairman and obtained a KSA lottery licence. The fraudster then created websites using the licence to offer tickets. Quick Boys neither applied for the licence nor operated the websites.<\/p>\n<p>The KSA has now strengthened checks on applicant identities and domain names listed in its Kansspelwijzer gambling register. The regulator said it has seen more attempts involving false information and copies of legitimate lottery websites. Extra verification stopped a comparable attempt in a separate case.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cConsumers must be able to trust a licence from the KSA. We take the fact that a scammer managed to mislead our application process very seriously,\u201d<\/em> said Ella Seijsener, director of licensing at the KSA.<\/p>\n<p>The KSA also filed a police report and will not provide further details while the investigation continues.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Consumers Warned Over Quick Boys Lottery Websites<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The KSA warned people not to enter names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers or banking information on the fraudulent sites. Possible risks include phishing and identity fraud.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who bought a ticket should contact their bank about reversing the payment, report the incident to police and notify both the Fraudehelpdesk and KSA. People who already supplied personal information should watch for unexpected payment requests, emails, text messages or calls.<\/p>\n<p>The affected websites include loterij.quickboys.nl, loterijenqb.com, besteloterijqb.com, nieuweqb.com, bestenl.com, topnetherlands.com, newloterij.com and topsloterij.com. The KSA confirmed none belong to Quick Boys.<\/p>\n<p>Dutch consumers can check legal gambling operators and lotteries through the Kansspelwijzer. For lotteries with prizes worth \u20ac4,500 or more, the KSA handles licensing. Municipalities handle permits below that threshold.<\/p>\n<p>The fraud case comes while the KSA continues broader work on gambling controls. In July, the regulator updated guidance for online gambling affordability checks after reviewing practices at 20 licensed operators.
