Only Ocean Casino Resort and Caesars Atlantic City improved profit from a year earlier.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Good to Know<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Atlantic City casino hotel profit fell 9.3% to $162.4 million in Q2.<\/li>\n<li>Including Caesars Interactive Entertainment New Jersey, industry profit dropped 10.1% to $164.9 million.<\/li>\n<li>First half profit fell 15.5%, while net revenue increased 0.2%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>Higher Revenue Fails to Protect Casino Profit<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Q2 figures show a widening gap between Atlantic City revenue and profitability. Casino hotel net revenue increased 1.3% to $836.5 million, but operating profit declined to $162.4 million. Including Caesars Interactive, total industry net revenue reached $844.5 million, up 0.9%.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Tyrrell, director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism at Stockton University, linked the decline to higher labour and goods costs as well as expenses connected with online casino and sports betting operations.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cRevenue at Atlantic City casinos does not always translate to profitability,\u201d<\/em> Tyrrell said.<\/p>\n<p>The pattern became clearer across the first six months. Industry net revenue reached $1.57 billion, up just 0.2%, while gross operating profit fell 15.5% to $269.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>Borgata remained the most profitable casino during Q2 at $60.1 million, despite a 4.7% decline. Ocean ranked second at $30.1 million after increasing profit 12.2%, while Hard Rock recorded $29.1 million, down 10.5%.<\/p>\n<p>Caesars was the only other casino to increase profit, rising 2.9% to almost $13 million.<\/p>\n<p>Performance was much weaker elsewhere. Golden Nugget profit fell 43% to $2.9 million, while Resorts Casino Hotel dropped 95.2% to just $473,000. Ballys produced $2.1 million and Tropicana reported $13.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>Resorts President Mark Giannantonio said part of the Resorts decline reflected a PokerStars deferred revenue payment recorded in 2025 that did not repeat after the agreement ended.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Hotel Demand Holds Up as Costs Rise<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Casino Control Commission Chairman James Plousis said Atlantic City operators faced their highest second quarter costs and expenses in nine years.<\/p>\n<p>Hotel demand remained relatively steady despite weaker profitability. Industry occupancy reached 73.2%, up 0.6 percentage points, while the average occupied room rate was $171.71.<\/p>\n<p>Ocean recorded the highest occupancy at 87.1% and the highest average room rate at $269.24. Golden Nugget ranked lowest on occupancy at 53%, with an average room rate of $109.96.<\/p>\n<p>Another issue sits further ahead. Fertitta Entertainment agreed in May to acquire Caesars Entertainment for $17.6 billion including assumed debt. The transaction still requires shareholder approval and regulatory clearances.<\/p>\n<p>Fertitta Entertainment already controls Golden Nugget.
