The project draws from <em>Advantage Player: A Memoir of Blackjack, Backrooms, and Beginnings<\/em>, which arrives on October 27, 2026. HBO has not announced a premiere date.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><em><strong>Good to Know<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Riley Keough will play Gina Fiore and also serve as an executive producer.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Will Graham will write and executive produce the HBO series.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Fiore built a career around <a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/casino\/learn-how-to-play-blackjack\/\">blackjack<\/a> card counting, hole carding and edge sorting.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>HBO Turns Advantage Play Into a Drama<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The series will focus on how Fiore went from financial instability to becoming a professional advantage player who beat casinos for millions of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Her gambling career began with blackjack card counting before she learned more advanced techniques including hole carding and edge sorting. The latter became widely known in gambling circles after Phil Ivey used it during high-stakes baccarat sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Keough said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cGina Fiore has lived a life that seems too extraordinary to be true. Her journey is as gripping as any screenplay because every impossible twist actually happened. Her story is unforgettable \u2013 and \u201cAdvantage Player\u201d is one you won\u2019t soon forget.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Keough and Graham previously worked together on <em>Daisy Jones &#038; the Six<\/em>. HBO landed the project in August, while Fiore has said development discussions had been underway for years.<\/p>\n<p>One part of the story also reached the US Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Fiore and fellow professional gambler Keith Gipson had about $97,000 seized during an Atlanta airport stop in 2006 after returning from Puerto Rico. Authorities later returned the money, and the dispute eventually became <em>Walden v. Fiore<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court ruled unanimously in 2014 that Nevada courts lacked personal jurisdiction over DEA agent Anthony Walden because his relevant conduct took place in Georgia.
