That 3% increase put the country close to other major European markets, behind the UK at 4.3% but ahead of Italy at 1.9%.<\/p>\n<p>Online gambling gave the clearest boost. Competitive online gambling revenue rose 8.5% to \u20ac2.617 billion, taking online share of the full market to 18.5%, up from 16.4% in 2023. Sports betting, horse racing betting, and poker all posted gains, while unique online players rose 7.5% to 4.2 million and active accounts reached 6.1 million, up 7.1%. Multi activity players jumped 25%, showing that more users are playing across several verticals.<\/p>\n<p>Sports betting remained the main online driver. Revenue climbed 10.4% to \u20ac1.766 billion, while stakes rose 12% to \u20ac11.517 billion. Football and tennis led that rise, making up 49% and 30% of stake growth. Revenue increased 6.5% to \u20ac525 million, pushed fully by tournament play. Active poker accounts rose 16.5% to 2.5 million, while unique players grew 15.1% to 1.9 million. Horse racing betting grew more slowly, with revenue up 2.4% to \u20ac326 million.<\/p>\n<p>Outside online play, FDJ United generated \u20ac6.95 billion in GGR, up 2.8%, which gave it 49.2% of the full market. Lottery products drove much of that result, while European online operations, especially in the UK and the Netherlands, fell 8%. Casinos also improved, with GGR up 3.4% to \u20ac2.816 billion and admissions reaching 31.6 million visits. Slot machines produced about 82% of casino GGR.<\/p>\n<h2>ANJ Flags Player Protection and 2026 Risks<\/h2>\n<p>ANJ also pointed to risk. A 2024 estimate from the French Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction found around 1.17 million people in France show problematic gambling behaviour, including about 360,000 excessive players. ANJ said operators need better tools to track risky behaviour and act earlier.<\/p>\n<p>France now ranks seventh worldwide and third in Europe by GGR, behind Italy and the UK.
