Lawmakers already built a clear path for a sweepstakes casino ban, and Wednesday only pushed one House step back by a week.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Scott Cepicky, sponsor of the proposal, asked the Tennessee House Finance, Ways, and Means Subcommittee to reconsider the bill the following week. That choice temporarily stopped debate, yet it did not take the measure off course. Sponsors can roll over bills for many reasons, including revisions or an effort to build more support before another hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, support has already shown up in other places. Several leading sweeps operators have already left the state.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee now sits near a larger national trend. As many as a dozen states either passed sweepstakes ban bills during the past 12 months or are weighing similar action right now.
